As a mom of a very inquisitive three year old this is an invaluable resource. I was looking for something that was comprehensive and inclusive of different experiences beyond our family but also easy to use as a quick resource as new questions come up about sex, gender, sexuality and our bodies, and this is it! I will be coming back to this book for years. The question and answer section covers everything I was looking for in terms of how factual information but also how to phrase the same information for each age. I love how the answers for older years build on the previous answers for younger years so that you are fostering an open and ongoing conversation with your child rather than one or two awkward "sex talks". But I also think that a parent of an older child could just as easily pick this up and start answering the questions and exploring topics about sex and sexuality with confidence. I tend to err on the side of too much information at times, so this was definitely a great resource to help me figure out how to address her questions without overloading her. I think readers with different values will also appreciate the room and advice given to customize answers depending on the values of your family. The author gives invaluable facts about sex and sexuality but does not advise on values around topics such a contraception, when to have sex, etc. Instead she gives examples of how you would discuss the values of your particular household/family together. if you are looking for a script for "the talk" this is not the book for you, but if you are looking for a resource to help you build the trust and confidence between you and your child around their body and sexuality so that they don't go looking for information elsewhere then this is the book!
